Marjorie Smith - Whitcliffe Netball Club and Whitcliffe Warriors JNC
Some of you may be aware that Marj was diagnosed with a brain tumour about a year ago. I am really sorry to say she has recently lost her battle with the illness and passed away last Thursday night.
For those old timers amongst you, Marj was a founder member of Morley Netball Club then later on, when we re-named ourselves Whitcliffe, she played a key role in establishing both our 2nd team and our Junior section - Whitcliffe Warriors. She also had taken her turn in serving for a while on both Junior & Senior League Committees. To say she will be greatly missed is a massive understatement.
For anyone who wishes to say goodbye to Marj a service will be held this Friday, 23rd October at St Pauls Church, Whitehall Rd, Drighlington BD11 1LJ at 3.45pm.
Marj's family have requested no flowers please but if anyone should wish to make a donation in Marj's memory they have asked for these to be sent to either St Paul's Church or to Yorkshire Cancer Research.
Many thanks
Jacki Womersley on behalf of Whitcliffe Netball.
