WY Performance Trials 25/26
The WY Performance team are inviting athletes in current school years 4 to year 9 to trial for the Performance Pathway for the 2026-27 season.
These county performance trials are part of the England Netball Performance Pathway for U15’s, which we are responsible for and we will be working in conjunction with Leeds Rhinos Netball to develop future athletes to move through the county programme and into the Superleague franchise. The county performance pathway is the ONLY pathway to be able to progress into the Leeds Rhinos franchise as we have to nominate athletes.
Trials will follow the same format as last year with a first stage in June and a second stage in September. There will be no late trials this year.
To trial, athletes MUST have a nomination from a coach/teacher which has to be given on the form, along with a contact email address of the coach/teacher supporting the application which will be checked before an invitation to trial is sent. Athletes must also be competing at club level and be affiliated to West Yorkshire from September.
The first stage of trials will take place on Sunday 21st June for u13/u11s and Sunday 28th June for u15s at Bradford College, BD5 0BE, between 8am and 6pm, so please ensure your daughter is available on the date for her specific age group in order to trial.
An exact trial date and time will be sent to you via the email address you provide by the 15th June. Please note, we are unable to take specific requests for dates and times due to the large number of applications we receive.
If an athlete is unable to trial on this date, then you MUST complete the application form and pay the trial fee, then in the box at the end, explain why they are unable to attend. Each individual athlete will be considered and an email will be sent with confirmation as to the next steps.
The outcome of the first trial will be emailed by Sunday 19th July. If the athlete is successful on their first trial, they will be invited to a second trial which will take place on Saturday 5th September for u15s and Saturday 12th September for u13s and u11s at Bradford College, BD5 OBE, between 8am and 6pm. This is to fit with the regional competition dates due to take place on the Sundays. Again, please ensure that your daughter is available to trial over these dates if they are successful on their first trial. An exact trial time will be sent to you via the email address you provided by the end of August.
Please note: Unfortunately due to the large number of athletes trialling (last year we had 350), we are unable to give specific feedback to any athlete. Each athlete will be selected based on what we as selectors see on the day. Athletes that have already been in the programme, are not guaranteed a place for this next year.
The performance programme for the 2026-27 season will take place at Bradford College on Mondays or Tuesdays with the earliest start time of 6pm and the latest finish time of 9.30pm. If your daughter is successful, she will be allocated a place in a group on one of these nights. Please be aware that due to the number of trialists and athletes we have, we will be unable to accommodate any specific requests for trial days or training days.
When completing the form, please can we ask that you check the contact details carefully and your email address is correct as this is what will be used for future correspondence. You will also need to provide the name of a teacher/coach supporting the trial application along with a contact email address for them as they will be contacted to confirm this nomination. We would also ask that you check and confirm with the athlete that they want to trial, they know their playing positions, and they can commit to the training before completing the application. Last year we had approx. 20 athletes who withdrew at the last minute or just didn’t show up on the day, which was extremely disappointing and caused lots of problems with organisation, when everything had been prepped and was ready to go.
To support with what we are looking for on the day and for positions, please can you sit down with the athlete and familiarise them with the EN guidance linked to positional responsibilities which will help them. Please note, this is currently for the 2023-24 season but most of the guidance is the same. We are waiting on an EN update for 2026-27. CLICK HERE for the Guidance
The cost for trials this year are £12.50 and payment details are on the trial form.
